The Texas College Democrats today announced that Darius Lemelle will serve as the Executive Board chief of staff, effective immediately. Darius will succeed McKenzie McPherson, who was nominated as director of political affairs earlier this year.
Darius, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is currently studying at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is the vice president of the UTSA Democrats, and has worked on several campaigns, including a city council campaign currently. A member of the United States Air Force since 2016, he recently returned from serving in Iraq.
Darius was confirmed by the Executive Board at its meeting on January 6, 2021.
